About the Event
The Ancient River Festival is dedicated to Atlantic songwriters of all genres.
Robbie Smith's music and songs touched so many musicians and fans throughout the world and since Shelburne is where Robbie called home, we believe that it's the best place to honour the commitment to craft that guided his life. This annual FREE festival is dedicated to Atlantic Canadian songwriters with an emphasis on South Shore musicians.
The festival will be held on Saturday, September 9th at the Guild Hall in Shelburne. We are excited to have Dave Gunning headling the festival!
Dave Gunning, a Nova Scotian folk musician, has released fourteen albums and is known for his storytelling and captivating performances. He has shared the stage with renowned artists and is recognized for his skills as a singer-songwriter. Gunning finds inspiration in his local community and often highlights underdogs and tackles social and environmental issues in his music. Despite addressing important topics, his shows are filled with humor and laughter. His latest album, "The Same Storm," released in 2022, continues his tradition of celebrating meaningful moments and looking towards the future.
